HANNAH GANSERT'S PRODUCTION PORTFOLIO
Virtual Production
Neurolink Experimental Film
Overview
I have had the opportunity to both produce and act in several virtual production projects at the University of Michigan's Virtual Production studio. This entailed designing and optimizing a 3D virtual environment using Epic Game's Unreal Game Engine that we then projected onto a projection wall. We employed Vive marker-less motion capture trackers to achieve frame synchronization and create a visually immersive parallax effect.
Through my involvement in these projects, I gained valuable insights into the limitations related to camera movement distance, especially concerning latency and the Moiré effect. While experience will naturally enhance my process efficiency over time, these projects have given me a solid understanding of shoot time which I can transfer into a larger scale production.
Select Projects:
Neurolink
An experimental short film I produced, testing the use of a physical follow spot that we synced to the game engine to blending the real and virtual world seamlessly. (video attached above)
Citizen Kane Recreation Part 1,2, & 3
A reel of the collective in-class work for part 1 and 2
I have had the pleasure to be a part of this project in several roles for the past two years.
Part 1. My first experience was working within a team to recreate the environment of Citizen Kane's bedroom in Unreal.
Part 2. Once the scene was created, I then explored creating a film within the 3D environment that was synced to an animation. I then used Unreal's Cine Camera Actor, to capture and create a short film within the scene.
Part 3. Then, two years later, I had the opportunity to act and re-enact the scene two years after the start of this project by projecting the virtual environment as a the virtual background.
